In commemoration of the centenary of the Easter Rising, we are delighted to present an entertaining event featuring the esteemed Irish historian Roy Foster, Professor of Irish History at Hertford College, Oxford. Prof Foster will share with us his unique insights on the Rising itself and its impact.
Doors open at 6 pm. Food and drink will be available before the main event begins at 8pm. Afterwards, there will be music with Munich Irish band "Anam".
Roy Foster is one the foremost Irish historians. He is the Carroll Professor of Irish History at Oxford and has written many books on Irish history and culture: Modern Ireland 1600-1972, The Irish Story: telling tales and making it up in Ireland, Luck and the Irish: a brief history of change, 1970-2000, a life of Parnell and the two-volume authorised biography of W.B.Yeats. His most recent book, Vivid Faces : The Revolutionary Generation in Ireland 1890-1923, was published last year to great critical acclaim. Prof Foster is also a well-known cultural commentator, broadcaster and critic.
